To support the growth of ATS Group, we are building a strong legal department. To this end, we are hiring a Legal Officer to join our HR-Legal team at our headquarters in Merelbeke.
Function
As a Legal Officer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for various legal matters and work closely with the Legal Advisor to expand and professionalize the legal department.
This is not a traditional in-house counsel role, but rather a very broad range of responsibilities with a great deal of accountability:
Contract Management & Legal Support
- You analyze and monitor a variety of contracts (purchase and sale agreements, NDAs, subcontracting agreements, etc.).
- You will help monitor which contracts require a legal review. You will assist in developing a risk matrix.
- You keep templates up to date and adapt them to comply with new legislation.
Social and labor law support
- You will assist in drafting and updating employment regulations, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- You will play an active role in organizing the social elections.
- You will assist HR with compensation and benefits projects (including bicycle leasing, KEW, and group insurance).
Insurance and Compliance
- You will assist with the follow-up and handling of claims and liaise with insurers.
- You will support legal compliance initiatives, including CSRD requirements such as the collection of CSRD data, the code of conduct, etc.
Business & Collaboration
- You will monitor the files related to contractor certification for the entire corporate group.
- You will assist with internal training sessions and informational sessions to raise legal awareness within ATS.
Together with the Legal Advisor, you will ensure the smooth day-to-day management of all legal matters within the company. As your expertise grows, your responsibilities will expand accordingly.
You will report to the Legal Advisor.
Profile
- You hold a master’s degree in law and, ideally, have some prior work experience.
- High-achieving recent graduates with the right mindset are also more than welcome.
- You have a broad interest in law and are drawn to a variety of fields, such as social law, contract law, insurance, compliance, and corporate law.
- A strong interest in GDPR is a plus.
- You work independently, take the initiative, and are willing to take ownership of your projects.
- You thrive on intellectual challenges and aren’t deterred by a complex or extensive workload—on the contrary, you see it as an opportunity to bring structure to the work and learn new things.
- You have a hands-on approach, are solution-oriented, and aren’t afraid to think outside the box.
