The seeds of ATS Group were sown in 1975 when René Schepens started up his one-man company I.R.S.. I.R.S. stands for "Industriële Realisaties Schepens". From the very beginning, it was the intention to become big in the industry because of the challenging projects.
Hard work and perseverance were rewarded: in 1984 A.T.S. nv was founded. At the start A.T.S. nv had 40 employees.
In order to lift the company to a higher level, a targeted effort was made to expand activities and areas of expertise so as to be a unique point of contact for the industry. An active acquisition policy combined with the internal growth of A.T.S. nv led to the multidisciplinary group of companies "ATS Group". Quality and long-term relations with customers are at the heart of ATS Group's success.
In April 2015, Luminus took a majority stake in ATS Group with a view to offering energy services to their B2B customers. Spurred on by Luminus, a fourth pillar of activity was developed, namely HVAC and energy solutions. In a short space of time, the group grew with a number of HVAC installation companies and, within this pillar, fully focused on energy efficiency solutions: smart buildings, battery systems, relighting, PV installations, electrical charging points, building management, etc.
At the end of 2020, René will pass on his mandate as CEO to Hendrik Aelbrecht and Chris Corijn. René Schepens will take on the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of A.T.S. nv.
