The software team in the Automation Business Unit is looking to hire a software engineer with experience in motion control. This role will support both our industrial line retrofit projects and the programming and commissioning of new mechatronic systems.
Function
- As a Motion Automation Engineer, you will carry out automation projects either independently or as part of a team, from programming through to project delivery, including the necessary follow-up support and documentation.
- Together with the team, supplier or customer, you discuss specifications and design.
- Based on the project requirements and application, you will be responsible for programming PLCs, drives, HMIs, and/or SCADA systems.
- You will play a key role in our projects during the commissioning phase of our customers' machines and systems.
- In addition to project implementation, you will contribute to internal software development and standardization. You will also closely monitor technological innovations in your field.
- Based on your expertise and interests, you will be involved as an integrator in projects in the following industrial sectors: discrete/motion, robotics/AMR, and mechanical engineering.
- Depending on competence and commitment, you can advance within the same domain to a senior or team lead position where you will take charge of a project or software team.
- You will work from our office in Merelbeke. During the start-up of a project you will occasionally work on site at the customer's premises.
- Sporadic stays abroad are possible.
Profile
- You have a Master's or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Industrial Sciences, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or Electromechanics.
- You already have at least 3-5 years of software experience with a focus on revamping and motion, PLC (gearing/camming), drives (Siemens and/or SEW and/or Danfoss), SCADA. Robotics experience is a plus.
- You have an affinity with the electrical and mechanical concept of a machine and also contribute ideas in this area, enabling you to draw up a sound functional analysis of how a machine works and to make the correct diagnosis when problems arise.
- You like to take charge, you are determined to complete your tasks successfully, and you enjoy rolling up your sleeves to get started when a machine is started up.
- You are driven and proactive.
- You have an eye for detail, are a thinker who leaves nothing to chance. You research and ask critical questions.
- When necessary, you take a pragmatic approach without losing sight of quality.
- You can express yourself fluently in Dutch. You understand and speak English and you can manage in French.
- You are in possession of a driver's license B.
