At the beginning of June 2021, ATS Electrical Panels put its new wire processing machine, Komax Zeta 640, into operation. The investment is an important addition to the modern machine park of the panel building workshop in Kruisem. Based on data from EPLAN ProPanel, the Komax prepares the necessary wires. This means considerable time savings for the panel building department.
The engineering of the control cabinet is done in EPLAN Pro Panel via a digital twin. All components on this virtual prototype are provided with connection images. The software then combines information from the electrical schematic (wire colour and section) with information from the 3D model (connection images and routing paths) to determine wire lengths and finishing processes. Then the information to control the Komax is exported directly from EPLAN Pro Panel.
Based on this project-based data, the machine automatically processes the necessary threads:
- cut to length (wire sections 0.5 - 6 mm²)
- print with source, purpose and thread number
- Finishing with single wire end sleeve / partial strip for manual finishing
- sequentially stick on tape for logical wiring of components
Thanks to the investment, the team saves a lot of time. Because of the printing of source and target on the wire, wiring can be done without consulting the schematic. Moreover, repetitive tasks are automated by the machine. The technical staff can thus focus on more complex tasks that better suit their skills.
